Guided Campus Tours

Campus guided tours are led by our specially selected team of UW students who combine knowledge of our historic campus with information about the student experience. During the tour you’ll have the chance to ask questions about academics, living on campus, research opportunities, study abroad, and all the great things to do in the Emerald City.

Must know

  • Guided tours are offered Monday through Friday, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. They leave from Schmitz Hall, 3rd floor lobby, and last 90 minutes.
  • Guided tours are also offered on Saturdays beginning at 10:30 a.m. and leaving from the statue of George Washington.
  • Tours are not offered on state holidays or the Saturday following a state holiday (for example, Nov. 12 or 26, 2011).
  • We ask you to use our online registration site, which also contains a lot of helpful information.

More information

Residence hall tours. Special group tours of the UW residence halls are offered in the fall. Please check online registration for details.

What to wear. Comfortable walking shoes and—when it looks like rain—an umbrella or (more Pacific Northwest style) a hooded jacket.

Visits to academic departments. To visit academic departments, please contact that department directly.

Sample a class. You are also welcome to attend a class in your academic area of interest. Choose from among more than 50 classes.

Special group tours. Groups of 15-100 should place a request for a special group tour at least four weeks in advance. Please note we receive many more requests for special group tours than we are able to accommodate, so placing a request does not mean we can guarantee you a tour.

Change of plans. Have you registered for a tour but need to cancel or change the date? No cause for concern: simply re-register for a date that works better for you. There is no need to call or email our office directly as the online registration system will update with your new reservation.

Self-Guided Walking Tours. Can't join us? Download the Take Yourself on a Tour booklet or stop by our office to pick up a printed booklet.

Disability Accommodations. The University of Washington is committed to provide access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation in its services, programs, activities, education and employment for individuals with disabilities. To request disability accommodation for a campus tour, please contact the Disability Services Office at 206.543.6450 (Voice), 206.543.6452 (TTY) 206.685.7264 (FAX), or dso@u.washington.edu at least ten days before you plan to arrive.

Any other questions about tour registration or location? Contact the friendly student staff at the Campus Visit Program.
