Thank you for applying to the University of Washington. We received about 69,000 applications for an expected entering class of 7,100, making the selection process very challenging.
While we are unable to offer you admission to the UW at this time, we would like to extend an invitation for you to join the freshman waitlist for autumn quarter 2024. If the UW is your top college choice, we hope you will accept this invitation.
Please keep in mind:
- The deadline to submit the form is April 1.
- The waitlist notification period is June 1–August 1.
- The UW does not rank within the waitlist.
- Students on the waitlist are generally not considered for direct admission programs.
If spaces in the freshman class become available, waitlist decisions will be based on the information you provided in your original application. Additional materials, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation, will not be considered.
We cannot assure admission to any student on the waitlist. The number of students admitted from the waitlist varies greatly from year to year.
- 2023: 2,985 of the 4,122 students on the waitlist were offered admission
- 2022: 8 of the 5,347 students on the waitlist were offered admission
- 2021: 631 of the 4,668 students on the waitlist were offered admission
Therefore, we advise you to confirm your intention to enroll at another college or university by the confirmation deadline of that school.
To join the freshman waitlist
Complete the online form using your UW NetID. Please note that only applicants invited to the waitlist will be considered for admission should spaces in the freshman class become available. Do not fill out the online form if you were not invited.
