Educational Opportunity Program Scholars Academy Conditions of the Offer of Admission

You have been admitted to the University of Washington (UW) on the condition that you participate in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Scholars Academy. The year-long EOP Scholars Academy will provide you with an excellent opportunity to hone skills and develop a network of support necessary for academic success at the UW. The following four activities are required components of your offer of admission:

  1. Enroll in a 2-credit General Studies course during each of your first three quarters at the UW. This class will be held once per week for 1 hour and 50 minutes. You will be enrolled in the EOP Scholars Academy General Studies (GEN ST) course during your Advising & Orientation parts 1 & 2 over the summer if you accept this offer.
  2. Meet with an EOP academic adviser on a quarterly basis during your first year at the UW. Your EOP academic adviser will help you build your course schedule and review your academic progress throughout your first year at the UW. We are confident that these requirements will support and enhance your success as a UW student.
  3. Attend the in-person EOP Scholars Academy Advising & Orientation part 3. This is typically held the Friday before Autumn quarter begins. Students will be notified as soon as the dates are set. At this event, you will meet your EOP Scholars Academy classmates and OMA&D staff members and learn about the many resources designed to support you throughout your UW career.
  4. Review the EOP Scholars Academy Responsibility Agreement and pay the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) or request a deferral online by May 1, 2025. By accepting your offer to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington and paying your ECD or requesting a deferral, you acknowledge and agree to all the UW’s conditions of admission outlined on the EOP Scholars Academy Responsibility Agreement.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Scholars Academy Responsibility Agreement

Students admitted to the University of Washington with the provision that they participate in the EOP Scholars Academy must agree to the following terms:

  1. I agree to register for and participate in the EOP Scholars Academy General Studies (GEN ST) course for Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters of the 2025-2026 academic year.
  2. I agree to attend the mandatory, in-person EOP Scholars Academy Advising & Orientation part 3. (This is typically held the Friday before Autumn quarter begins. Students will be notified of the details later.)
  3. I agree to meet with my EOP academic adviser at least once per quarter to evaluate my degree progress, create and revise academic plans accordingly and discuss resources and opportunities aligning with my goals.
  4. I agree to fully participate in the UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity’s (OMA&D) EOP Scholars Academy schedule of activities, meetings and assignments for the entire 2025–2026 academic year.
  5. I agree to actively utilize OMA&D programs and services and follow an academic plan developed quarterly in partnership with my EOP adviser during my first year of study at the UW.
  6. I understand that failure to fulfill EOP Scholars Academy requirements each quarter will result in registration holds and that additional requirements will need to be fulfilled to remove them.
  7. I understand that my obligation to participate in EOP Scholars Academy will be extended if I do not successfully complete the program by the end of Spring quarter 2026.

By accepting your offer to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington and paying the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) or requesting a deferral, you acknowledge and agree to all the University of Washington conditions of admission outlined above.

The program helped make the UW a much smaller, friendlier and welcoming place. I come from a small city in Eastern Washington, and coming to the UW was a great change that was made easier to bear with the help of all the resources and aid I received and the people I met during the program.

It prepared me academically for the transition from high school to college. I received the knowledge to be a step ahead of my peers who did not partake in the program.
