I applied. Now what?

I applied:

If you received confirmation from the Common App that your application was submitted, you may rest assured that we have received it. Your application is working its way through our system, and you will receive a confirmation email with information about how to set up your UW NetID as soon as possible. Please allow a couple of weeks from the time you submitted your application for this process. And, don’t forget to check your spam folder.

We understand the desire to update your application.  Unfortunately, we are only able accept updates for the following items:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
Fax a copy of your Social Security card to 206.685.3655 or contact your admissions counselor for a Zoom identification meeting.
  • Requested first- and/or second-choice major
Your request must be received by Jan 15.
  • You realized you applied twice

If you have updates to any of the above items, please contact the Office of Admissions. If you have already contacted the Office of Admissions, we will respond as soon as possible.

If you no longer wish to attend the University of Washington, you may withdraw your application here. If you submit this form, your application will not be considered for admission.

  • Autumn: March 1–15
  • Winter: November/December
  • Spring: Not open for first-year admission
  • Summer: March 1–15

You will find your admission decision and assigned major within the “Application Status” section of your MyUW portal during the notification period. Note that you will need your UW NetID to access your MyUW account. Find information about creating your UW NetID below.

  • Students admitted to autumn and summer quarters will also receive an offer packet in the mail that contains an official letter with your assigned major, as well as other information about taking the next steps to become a Husky.
  • Students invited to the waitlist will see their invitation and instructions for next steps in their MyUW portal.
  • Denied students will see their decision in their MyUW portal.

If you are admitted AND you accept the offer of admission, you will be required to submit your final transcripts by July 15. You will receive more information about that process in your admission materials.

Letters of recommendation, portfolios or other supplemental materials are not required for first-year admission. Please do not send them.

MUSIC MAJORS: Students interested in a music major should contact the UW School of Music for information about signing up for an audition.

If your application is missing any information we need to complete your review, we will contact you via email with instructions to provide the missing items. Please watch your email for communications, and don’t forget to check your spam folder.

  • Check your email! Email is the only way we will communicate with you about your application.
  • Set your spam filters to accept email from @uw.edu or @u.washington.edu. This should prevent our communications from going to your spam folder. However, we still recommend checking occasionally to be sure.
  • Set up your UW NetID. Your UW NetID will be required to view your admission decision within your MyUW portal. It will also be used to create your UW email address, so pick something you’ll want to use for all purposes, for many years to come.
  • Once you have your UW NetID, manage your email and mailing addresses via your MyUW portal. Be sure to forward your UW email to an email account you have access to.
