PATHWAYS FOR INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE (PIE)

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Washington and the College of Engineering via the Pathways for Inclusive Excellence (PIE)! Please carefully review the following information.

You have been admitted to the College of Engineering on the condition that you participate in STARS. STARS provides you with an excellent opportunity to develop skills and build a network necessary to ensure a strong STEM foundation at the UW. Over the next several weeks, our intake process will help us begin learning more about you so we can best support you during your time here.

To confirm your enrollment in the College of Engineering:
1. By March 24: Complete the PIE intake form.
2. March and April: Regularly check the email that you provided on your UW application and respond to any additional requests from staff (if applicable).
3. By March 31: Review the STARS program materials and website. Program staff are available if you have any questions about program details.
4. By May 1: Confirm your participation in STARS and pay your Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD), or request a deferral.

IMPORTANT: If you do not wish to participate in PIE, notify staff at pie-coe@uw.edu and pay your Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD), or request a deferral, and you will be enrolled at the UW as a pre-major student. There are a limited number of spaces in engineering majors for students who are not admitted directly into the College of Engineering as first-year students, and we are unable to guarantee that you will be admitted through the capacity-constrained admission process at a later date.

We know this is a lot of information at a very exciting time in your life. We’re here to help! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your UW engineering journey with us starts now! Contact us at uwstars@uw.edu.
