Geography

College of Arts & Sciences

Geographers research and engage the world by asserting the importance of space, environment, context, location, place and scale in relation to society’s most pressing environmental and social concerns. We draw from interdisciplinary theories across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences to address how these concerns are mapped, represented and understood in a changing world. Linking theory to practice, our students develop a unique skillset that brings together quantitative and qualitative data analysis, tech knowledge, research, writing and oral communication. Ample experiential learning opportunities such as internships, service learning and research projects enable students to pursue a wide variety of careers in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
