The Admissions website uses a custom WordPress theme — the Admissions theme which is a child theme of the UW WordPress Theme.
What you need to know to get started!
You should be familiar with UW WordPress theme basics. The best place to start is the UW Web Strategy documentation library site (called the Docs site). There, you can learn about:
- the different page templates
- shortcodes and how to set them up to achieve various layouts
- some Bootstrap
Other important things to know:
Notification banners
To add or edit a notification banner, navigate from the dashboard to Appearance > Site Notification Banner. Then:
- Add your content to the Banner message input field. Keep it brief.
- Select the color for the banner
- Check the Turn on banner box
- Click Save
To turn off the notification, uncheck the Turn on banner box and click save. (You can clear out the Banner message input field, or not.)
NOTE: the banner will appear on every page, not just the home page.
