Academic Planning Worksheet: Economics

Preparation for your intended major is a factor in the review of your UW transfer application. Use this worksheet to help you plan for admission to your intended major and for UW general education requirements.


Department admission information

This major is capacity-constrained. Completion of prerequisites does not guarantee admission.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 required for college course work.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 required for prerequisites with minimum of 2.0 in each course.

The application deadline is the second Friday of each quarter (autumn, winter and spring). Transfer students must be enrolled at the UW before applying to the major.

Additional information

For Bachelor of Arts:

  • Completion of at least 45 transferable credits, including above prerequisites, required.
  • Although MATH 112 is acceptable, MATH 124 is preferred.
  • Transfer students must be enrolled at the UW before applying to the major.
  • A one-page personal statement required with application.
  • Completion of reading comprehension, critical thinking and writing (RTW) assessment essay required. Transfer students should sign up to take the RTW after they are admitted to the UW, meet the admission prerequisites and are in their first quarter at UW.

For Bachelor of Science:
