Academic Planning Worksheet – Business Administration

Preparation for your intended major is a factor in the review of your UW transfer application. Use this worksheet to help you plan for admission to your intended major and for UW general education requirements.


Department admission information

This major is capacity-constrained. Completion of prerequisites does not guarantee admission.

Transfer students must submit two applications – one to the Foster School of Business and one to the UW. The business application deadline is April 5 for autumn or summer quarters and October 5 for Winter quarter.

Additional requirements:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 including transferable coursework
  • A minimum cumulative business GPA of 2.5 including transferable coursework

1 Must be completed at the time of application. If transferring from a college where financial and managerial accounting are taught in a 3-part series, you must complete the first two courses before the application deadline and the third course must be complete by the end of the quarter of application.

2 ECON 200 OR 201 at time of application, ECON 200 AND 201 must be complete by the end of the quarter of application.

MGMT 200 will not fulfill I&S if admitted to business. Students from colleges without an equivalent of MGMT 200 should contact bizinfo@u.washington.edu. This is not a barrier to application.

STAT 220, 221 or STAT 311 are also acceptable substitutes for statistics. Statistical Methods or equivalent must be complete by the end of the quarter of application. Effective autumn 2019, STAT 220 & 221 will no longer be acceptable alternatives.

5 Must be completed at the time of application. For English courses, choose from among C LIT 240, ENGL 109, ENGL 110, ENGL 111, ENGL 121, ENGL 131, ENGL 197, ENGL 198, ENGL 199, ENGL 281, ENGL 297, 298, 299 or equivalent.
