Explore campus on your own with a downloadable Tourcast!

Audio tour guides

The faces behind the voices

Take technology into your own hands and tour the campus on your own terms. Join audio tour guide KC and her friends as they show you 18 locations around campus and give you information that every student needs to know. You’ll also hear fun facts and Husky lore! The best thing is, you pick your stops on the tour and go where and when you want. You’re in charge! The playlist includes bonus tracks from indy bands in the Seattle area, courtesy of KEXP radio.

To keep track of your steps, you can also download a custom campus map with the tour stops numbered. The numbers correspond to the play list. Open the map as a PDF file and print, so you can carry it along with you.

There are two ways to get the tour. You can subscribe to it as a podcast, or you can download a compressed archive of all the files you need.

  • Download the Custom Campus Map (272KB PDF)
  • To subscribe, add http://admit.washington.edu/files/tourcast/tourcast.xml to your podcast application. Be careful and ensure that the full address is copied. Instructions for adding this podcast to iTunes are below.
  • Download the compressed archive if your software doesn’t support podcasts.

Subscribing to the Tourcast in iTunes 6 or later

  1. Select the Tourcast URL shown above and copy it to the clipboard.
  2. Switch to iTunes and select “Subscribe to Podcast…” from the “Advanced” menu.
  3. Paste the URL into the dialog box and press OK.
  4. You will now find a “University of Washington Campus Locations” collection listed under “Podcasts” in the main directory. You can click the “GET” button next to each location you are interested in. As new content becomes available, it will be automatically downloaded to your computer.

Technical Requirements

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or newer (for the campus map only). If you do not have this software, you can download it free of charge.
  • A portable MP3 player (if you want to walk the tour), or a computer with MP3 software.
  • Software for transferring MP3 files to your player.
  • If you plan on using the downloadable archive instead of the podcast, you’ll need an extracting utility, such as WinZip (PC only). If you do not have this software, you can download a trial version free of charge.
