Are You a Freshman?
Apply as a freshman if any of the following statements describe you.
- You plan to enter the UW right after graduating from high school.
- You are in Washington State’s Running Start Program and you plan to enter the UW right after graduating (regardless of how many college credits you have earned or will earn).
- You have never attended college since leaving high school (regardless of your age or whether you ever graduated).
Transfer Student?
Apply as a transfer student if all of the following statements describe you.
- You wish to enroll at the University of Washington to earn your first bachelor’s degree.
- You are no longer in high school (regardless of how old you are or whether you graduated).
- You will have completed any course work at a regionally accredited college or university before you enroll at the University of Washington.
International Student?
Apply as an international student if you need an F-1 student visa or you have any other type of temporary, non-immigrant visa. If you have an A, E, I, G, K, or V visa, dual U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, refugee status, or political asylum, you are not considered an international student. If you have applied for U.S. residency and you anticipate it will be approved before enrolling at the UW, you should apply as a Freshman or Transfer applicant.
Postbac?
Apply as a postbaccalaureate applicant if you have completed, or will complete a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university before enrolling at the University of Washington.
Postbaccalaureate is a matriculated (degree-seeking), undergraduate status at the UW, reserved for students who are working towards a second bachelor’s degree, or are preparing for entrance to graduate or professional school.
This status includes UW undergraduates who anticipate earning their first bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue a second degree at the UW.
