Demonstrating Financial Resources
In order to complete the application and receive the necessary immigration forms to obtain a student visa, the applicant must demonstrate that he or she has sufficient funds to pay for tuition and living expenses at the UW. All applicants are required to sign and submit the Statement of Financial Responsibility form with the UW application. Applicants must also provide an original bank letter or statement dated within the last six months as evidence of financial resources. The verifying bank letter or statement can be submitted after the admission decision has been made, but the Statement of Financial Responsibility Form must be received at the time of application to the University.
Applicants should keep a copy of all financial documents submitted to the UW, as this information may be needed when applying to the U.S. Consulate for a student visa, to U.S. Immigration upon entry to the U.S., or to transfer to another university.
Paying Tuition
Once an applicant has been offered admission and is registered for courses at the University, he or she will receive periodic email messages with reminders to check the tuition statement on the MyUW account to see if there is an outstanding balance. The email notification sent to the student is the official tuition bill. Students may authorize online access to their statements by two additional people. Fees must be paid in full by the third Friday of the quarter. Paying Tuition at the UW
Scholarships
If you will be attending the University with the support of a scholarship from your government or other agency, you must present a copy of the scholarship letter to the Student Fiscal Services Office, 129 Schmitz Hall, before the beginning of the academic year or quarter you are attending. This will ensure that they have time to bill your sponsor, and that the payment is received before the tuition due date. The University of Washington does not offer any financial aid or scholarships to international students.
