Tips for Finding Other Scholarships
- Do your research in your junior year. Then set up a timeline,
listing scholarships in chronological order by deadline.
Spend some time thinking about your goals and aspirations;
nearly all applications for merit-based awards contain a
question about your academic and professional plans. - Scholarships awarded by local and national organizations
are generally without regard to financial need. They take
more research and legwork to find and apply for but
are well worth the effort. The total resources of these
organizations far exceed what’s available from the other
types of scholarship providers. - Most scholarship applications become available in the fall
of your senior year and are due between January and April
of your senior year. Hint: Give at least three weeks’ notice
when requesting letters of recommendation.
