
Spring Celebration of Service and Leadership
During this academic year more than 5,000 undergraduates devoted half a million hours to university-sponsored public service. These students showcased their civic engagement projects at the annual Spring Celebration of Service and Leadership.

“It’s changing the way we think about waste,” said UW Recycling & Solid Waste Manager Emily Newcomer. “We expect the increased capacity and the as-needed servicing to dramatically reduce our fuel use and disposal costs while using a sustainable energy source to create these efficiencies.”

Engineering Discovery Days: Open House April 21st
The UW’s College of Engineering is open to the community on Saturday, April 21st, featuring a program specifically aimed at high school, community college and transfer students who are interested in UW’s engineering program.

Meatless Monday
On Monday, April 16, Housing Food Services will kick off Earth Week by eliminating all meat products from two dining facilities. “There’s always the diet concern, but our primary focus is teaching about corporate stronghold of the meat industry,” Real Food Challenge leader Stephanie Iris Robinson said.

Queer Student Commission Presents: Dawgs in Drag
“I think what is powerful about drag is that it points out the weird gender norms that we do have and how funny they look when we’re overemphasizing them,” said senior Allexa Laycock in an interview with the Daily. Laycock performs as "Mister Licker" in the annual ASUW drag competition.

Profiling the Passerby: Art Beyond the Gallery
An interactive installation will soon transform the entrance of the UW's art gallery, investigating the narrative potential of social media and raising provocative questions about profiling and privacy in our day.
