Living in a residence hall on campus can greatly enhance your college experience. Yes, the halls conveniently are located near campus resources, but the benefits of living on campus greatly exceed that convenience. A focus on community and leadership propagated by the dedicated and experienced Residential Life Staff allows students to develop their skills and experience new things in a comfortable environment. There are eight unique residence halls on campus. By living in the residence halls, you’ll have access to top-notch amenities like cable TV, high-speed internet, and award-winning dining facilities. With various themed-housing, single-student apartments and family housing, there is something to suit everyone’s needs.
The UW's Ethics Bowl team, the Ethics Dawgs, took home national championships in 2000 and 2005. The team takes on big questions such as animal rights and sexual discrimination.
Students at the University are free to make their own housing arrangements and are encouraged to choose the type of accommodation best suited to their academic and personal needs. Each year, more than 5,000 students choose to live in University-owned housing.
Many students choose to live off-campus in the neighborhoods surrounding the UW. Housing in the University District is difficult to find and often more expensive than other areas within commuting distance. Because parking on campus is costly and very limited, consider nearby neighborhoods with good bus service to campus. That way you can take advantage of the U-PASS program, an inexpensive and easy way to get to campus and around the greater Seattle area.
