The Admission Decision

The University takes great care in assessing applications and does not rush the selection of future students. While this process requires patience on the part of many applicants, the benefit is that each applicant is reviewed as an individual.

All applicants are notified of the admission decision, whether offered admission or not, in writing. For privacy reasons, we are unable to give out admission decisions over the telephone. Notification is a continuing process so we cannot give a specific date on which you will be notified.

Checking Your Admission Status

  • Within a week or two of its receipt and entry in our student data base system, the Office of Admissions will mail a letter confirming that it received your application. That letter contains private information and instructions, allowing you to set up your own UW NetID and MyUW online account.
  • To set up your UW NetID and MyUW account, you will first need two confidential access codes included in your acknowledgement letter. If you have recently submitted an application, please allow sufficient time for this mail to reach you.
  • If you have already established a UW NetID, you may login now to check the status of your application in your MyUW account. Please note: Information will be available only if your application has already been entered in our student data base system.
  • Online Applicants: Your UW Net ID is NOT the same as the login you used to work on your online application for admission. You won’t be able to create a UW Net ID until you receive a letter from Admissions—by postal mail—which includes instructions and an initial access code.
