The TAP is still your friend.
Even in the age of wireless laptops and PDAs, Transfer Admission & Planning is still an essential resource for prospective transfer students. It provides pages of information about admission, academic planning, and financial aid. In particular, we recommend using the TAP to familiarize yourself with the UW application, so that your time online goes smoothly.
Timing is everything.
Apply too early, and you won’t have all the necessary documents on file. Apply too late, and the Admissions staff won’t have time to notify you of any missing documents. January is a great time to submit your Autumn application once you are assured your autumn grades are included on your college transcript.
The decision timeline remains the same.
Whether you apply by paper or online, you will be notified of a decision during the same notification period.
Write the Personal Statement offline.
The online application provides a window in which you “paste” your statement, but it is not a hospitable environment in which to draft, edit, and proofread this important part of your application. We recommend you use a word processing program to write your statement, then copy the entire document and paste it into the window. Don’t worry if formatting-such as bold, italic, line spacing, or font choice-is eliminated when you paste. This will in no way hurt your chances for admission.
The University continues to honor the 1994 proportionality agreement, which stipulates that 30% of all newly enrolled undergraduates at the UW annually will come from Washington State community colleges.
