Application Fee
The $75 application fee in U.S. currency is nonrefundable and must be submitted each time you apply.
- Online Application. The application fee must be paid by credit card, debit card, or an electronic check from a U.S. checking account at the time you submit the application.
- Paper Application. Send a check or money order payable through a U.S. bank and made out to the University of Washington. Be sure your name as the applicant appears on the check or money order. DO NOT SEND CASH.
- Applications received without the application fee at the time of submission will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.
- Credit card payments are accepted for the online application only. An online application will not be processed unless the application fee is paid online at the time you submit the application.
When to Apply
International students may apply for either summer or autumn quarters.
- The application deadline for international freshman applying for either summer or autumn 2010 is January 15, 2010.
- The application deadline for international transfers and international postbaccalaureates applying for either summer or autumn 2010 is February 15, 2010.
The application deadlines apply to all international freshman, transfer, and postbaccaureate applicants, even those who are currently attending school in the U.S.
We encourage applicants to apply early and to verify all admissions materials have been submitted. All application materials, including transcripts and test scores, must be mailed or postmarked on or before the published application deadline. Application forms and materials mailed from outside the U.S. must be postmarked by the application deadline, but must also be received by the Office of Admissions within two weeks of the published deadline. It is the responsibility of the applicant to verify that all required documents have been submitted.
Mailing Your Application Materials
The Office of Admissions can serve you better – and faster! – if the paper application, application fee, writing section, official transcripts, and the Statement of Financial Responsibility form arrive together in one package. If you submit the online application, then you will need to mail only your official transcripts. Test scores must be sent separately because they will be sent directly from the testing agency to the UW.
Please be sure that your full legal name appears on all documents and that it is exactly the same on all correspondence and documents sent to the UW. Even a slight discrepancy can cause delays in processing your application and could result in documents not being filed with your application.
The UW is on a quarter system. To convert quarter to semester credits, multiply by .66. To convert semester to quarter credits, multiply by 1.5: 30 sem credits = 45 qtr credits.
