Last year, more than 95% of freshman applicants to the UW chose to apply online, and we expect an even higher perecentage for 2011. We hope these five tips help you with the process.
1. Memorize These Dates: December 1 and January 15!
- If you want the highest consideration for scholarships, and the Honors Program submit your application by December 1!
- The final application closing date for autumn or summer 2010 is January 15, 2010.
There is no better chance for admission by applying earlier than January 15. Still, we thank you for completing a well-prepared application as soon as you can simply because it allows our staff to begin looking at your application before the rush.
2. Save Time and Typing
More than 800 other colleges and universities offer online applications through CollegeNet. You can save time and keyboarding if you use the same login and password with each application you begin. That way, you’ll find that basic information (address, phone number, email, etc.) is automatically inserted once you’ve entered it on one application. We hope you’ll find this a helpful benefit as you work on multiple applications.
- Privacy Guarantees: Your information you enter remains confidential until you submit it to a particular college. We in UW Admissions can’t see your work in progress or know what other schools you’re considering.
3. Technical Help Is Available!
Having technical difficulties? At the bottom of every page of the online application you’ll find a link for contacting CollegeNet for help. General, non-technical questions about the admissions process can be asked in our contact section .
4. Know Your Payment Options
When you get ready to complete this application, your application is not submitted until you have clicked the “Save Pay and Send” button available only on the last page, and successfully finished payment with either a credit card or electronic check. If your application is successfully submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation note from the UW.
- Fee Waivers: If you wish to request a fee waiver of the application fee, please consult the Fee Waiver information page and follow the directions.
5. Follow That Link!
Buttons or icons throughout the Washington online application offer additional information or resources.
- You’ll see buttons that appear after you answer certain questions, to make it easier for you to explore a major you’re considering, for example, or to learn more about the Honors program.
- The icons next to many questions link to detailed instructions. We encourage you to read them; without those tips, you may find it difficult to complete the question accurately.
