While we encourage students to submit an online application, we also accept paper applications. Please do not submit the application in more than one format.
The PDF application is a free and convenient way to:
- Get a paper copy of the University of Washington undergraduate application as quickly as possible
- Practice completing the application before completing the online application
- Keep a copy of the completed application for your records
Follow These Easy Steps to Apply to the UW

Download the application instructions and the application form (you will need both files).
- Request a paper copy of your official transcript(s) from each school attended.
- Mail the completed and signed application form, the application fee, and your official transcripts, together in one envelope, to the address below. Make sure your full legal name appears on all documents submitted with your application.
- Official test scores must be sent directly to the UW from the testing agency. Photocopies, scanned copies, school copies, or student copies will not be accepted as official.

If you have not chosen a major yet, you must choose from one of these six academic areas of interest:
- Pre-Biological/Environmental Sciences
- Pre-Health Sciences
- Pre-Humanities (e.g., English, Foreign Languages)
- Pre-Computing/Engineering
- Pre-Physical Sciences
- Pre-Social Sciences
