Jokes can also be a good way of educating, because people want to understand why the joke is funny, and if you can make a joke about exchange rates and get people interested in it, that’s half the battle: getting people to care about, “Why am I learning this material, other than it’s going to be on a test?”
Ali Tarhouni, formerly a senior lecturer in finance and business economics, left the UW in March to join the rebel uprising in Libya. “A year ago, I’d be thinking about which coffee shop to visit...Fast forward to helping liberate a city and a country," said Tarhouni.
